It may just be shoes, but since the shoes are so obviously Sonic's, this counts as a cameo. In the Donkey Kong game "Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest" for the SNES there's a screen with Cranky Kong "Cranky's Video Game Heroes". However, the bottom of it is marked with a sign that says "No Hopers". You can see a Yoshi, Mario, Link, Diddy Kong & Sonic's shoes there at the bottom, as well as Earthworm Jim's blaster gun (its next to the shoes). What does it all mean? Remember, this is from before Sega & Nintendo teamed up, so they couldn't actually show ALL of Sonic without infringing something...so they took his shoes to probably make fun of him here, somehow.
